We were bored out of our minds and wanted to try something new — except it was already 7pm. So we thought, why not art? A quick scroll through Groupon for something fun, cheap, and nearby, and up popped a Wine & Paint class just five miles from home. We called, they had an open slot, and off we went. (Heads up: these classes usually run 1.5–2 hours and cost around $20–30, sometimes with wine included, sometimes not.)

Class had already started
We rolled in around 7:30 and everyone was already stroking their canvases. I was a little nervous about how mine would turn out — but I just followed the instructor. Then, about halfway through, I went and grabbed a glass of wine, and that's when the fun started. We blended into the crowd and the music, and before I knew it I was halfway through my painting and three glasses deep, poking paintbrushes at each other's aprons and mixing colours with zero plan.

The instructor was lovely — she came around to each of us with little fixes and suggestions. By the time we finished, it was somehow already 10pm.
A few tips before you book
They'll tell you which painting you'll be doing before you book — if you're a newbie, pick an open landscape or something you can fill in with easy blocks of colour, nothing with fussy details. Show up five minutes early to settle in, grab a glass of wine right at the start, and just be cool and have fun. Your painting will not look like the one on screen — but you'll laugh, guaranteed. And if you're actually good? You can sell it right there.
