I'll say it plainly: Andhra food is the spiciest I eat, and I say that with total love. If you've only had 'Indian food' abroad, this will recalibrate you. Go in hungry and a little humble.
The Andhra meal
The move is a proper Andhra meals — rice on a banana leaf with a rotating cast of curries, pickles, and podis, usually unlimited. Gongura (that tangy sorrel-leaf pickle) is the signature; Ulavacharu, a peppery horse-gram broth poured over rice, is my personal favourite thing on the whole leaf.
Beyond the rice
Natu kodi pulusu — country-chicken curry — is lean, fiery, and fantastic. For breakfast, pesarattu (a green-moong dosa) with ginger chutney sets you up for the day. Along the Vizag beachfront you'll also find easy street snacks if you just want to graze.
The survival notes
Keep curd or a sweet lassi within arm's reach — that's the real fire extinguisher, not water. Start milder and build up. And carry tissues, because the spice is honest and so are your tear ducts. If a place I recommend has closed, tell me in the comments and I'll keep this current.
