About Me

I’m so glad you decided to stop by!

Hi, I am SaiMithil from Hyderabad, India. Currently staying in Chicago, IL from past 1 year ,before that 1 year in Indianapolis, Indiana ;and before that 1year in Columbus Ohio and I can go on for another 4 lines 😛 In short, in United States from past 10 years.. vow 10 years.. time do fly by.. ! ..

Please don’t roll your eyes thinking me as a typical IT-Desi-indian guy. Well I am little bit of that 😛 but also obsessed with exploring places near me. Obsessed like in …. as per google it says in 518 days I have made 95 trips. On an avg every month I am traveling 500 miles; spending 14hrs in shopping. In this year I have visited  511 restaurants and 38 airports.

So much for COVID… lol !! But ya I have been vaccinated and took all kinds of precautions with masks and sanitizers. So don’t  feel as if i am spreading virus.
Besides my Database Administration work I love exploring world and blog my adventure, and getting as lost as possible with my Camera,Lovely wife and my cutie pie Oreo (Yorkie-Puppy).
Travel is the best kind of education, even if it’s just outside your door steps !

My Blog is just not about me, it’s to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone… literally and figuratively. As Mark Twain said “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.”  Travel is not just about the places we visit, but the people we meet and the person we become.

WHAT IS WORKTRAVELHACK?

I started this blog as I have been traveling a lot and as time fly by its hard to even keep a track record to cherish my moments. Honestly, I just felt like everywhere I looked on the internet–everyone had this perfect life that seemed very far out of reach. So–I started my own imperfect corner of the internet 🙂 Earlier I thought I could just blog about my work, interview tips on Databases but then I realized its kind of boring. So I wondered what can I add to make my blog more interesting ? and on a random day I saw a mail from google that I got 1.3 Million views for my images.

So I thought lets keep a record of all the places I have visited, and tips/best way of transportation/best things to do in those places.
This blog will not only contain info on Hidden Gems of various locations but will also be my Travel blog and will be featuring my Beautiful wife’s beauty tips, and last but not the least Yorkie training videos, funny moments of my puppy and a separate tab regarding my IT work.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO FIND HERE?

You’ll find different types of content on this blog, but it all ladders up to this: Life is not just about 9-5 work. I am here to show there is whole another world and you can get essence of it, if you can plan properly with your work. I am not here to tell you to leave your jobs and take that big bold step. Hell.. I am not doing that..and none of the bloggers/entrepreneur’s  ever inspired me to do it. I did saw a lot of YouTube, Udmey videos, personal blogs and even paid membership fees but nah never got a clear view. I am a guy who tries to foresees and have options before I set my foot on anything.  But once I get a sustainable source of income from traveling and blogging, I Will definitely share my roadmap and people can try accordingly.

There are style tips that make you feel confident instead of self conscious (no 90’s dad sneakers here, no way), Beauty tips that help you glow from the inside out and just general advice–on travel, my lovely pet videos and Related to Database Administration skills-Interview questions and some concepts of database.

I’VE NEVER VISITED YOUR BLOG BEFORE, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE POSTS? CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU WRITE ABOUT?

Basically, if it’s something we’re all going through–we will talk about it here!

Beauty:

My wife’s beauty posts will focus on clean skincare and natural looking makeup and hair. I love to shoot my wife’s makeup, but she don’t wear a ton of it, and I always believe that makeup should enhance your natural features, not cover them up!. So this section of my blog will be covered by my wife 🙂 In her words “I started transitioning my beauty cabinet over to cleaner skincare options about a year ago, coming up on the big 3-0 (I just turned 30 this past summer!) I realized I really need to start paying better attention to my overall health.”

Travel ideas:

I’ve got a whole travel section on my blog right over here. If you click the drop-down menu, you’ll be able to navigate by location! I also have some great packing list posts and my Carry On Travel Capsule Wardrobe post is one of my my most popular posts to date!

Work:

A brief technical intro about me: I have been working as Database Administrator for almost 7-8 years. I have done my masters from Wichita State University. I have recently completed my  Associate certification’s in AWS solutions Architect and in Oracle pl/sql and have done couple of course works on cybersecurity tools. So I have been working as contractor with different clients in different domains like Banking,Utilities,Nuclear Health care and the present one is with State department of Indiana. Coming to Technical aspects My present work is divided in 2 projects basically one is supporting onprem Very large Oracle databases ranging from 10TB -1Petabyte, maintaining clusters and disaster recovery sites. And another project is migrating mainframes files and Oracle db data on to postgres rds in AWS and to Mysql in Azure cloud and analyzing databases as how efficient we can move data or how much more space is needed – architecture review  you can say or any improvement in performance required.

So I will be sharing the technical info what I work on in much more greater detail.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOU, MITHIL!

Where to begin? I live in Hoffman Estates, IL to be more precise. I completed my masters from Wichita State University in Computer Networks. I am working as a Database Admin (IT) at one of the State Client. I know the next though you would have, you are earning so you are traveling. Well that’s the fact, but all of my travels may look little lavish but trust me it’s not. I have found some hack and some places where you cant find on Pinterest,Youtube and Yelp. For me traveling is all about fun. From the time from my masters, I always felt happy when I travelled even if its a short distance to grab a coffee or to Walmart.I didn’t felt as a hobby, it’s just a thing that make you happy. So If I trace my steps..feels I came long way.. the states I travelled, people I met.. different restaurants/food..

Whenever I get bored, I used to get my car out and go around.. with out any destination. In this traveling quest I found my travel buddy for life, my lovely wife Haritha in Chicago. And we travelled 10 different states in United States and 2 States in India within last 8 months. During this time frame only, my wife made me realized how good I am in researching about the places, finding hidden restaurants or places that very few of our circle knows and how happily we enjoyed every trip. So she encouraged me to get my lazy ass up and start a blog and help others too 🙂

If I had endless funds and spare time, I would use it all to travel as many places as I could!
My favorite part of blogging is connecting with you–my readers! Helping you and bringing people together through the content on this blog- is a big driver in why I enjoy getting up everyday–so thank you!
